Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 at 4.30 pm the “Conclave” will start in the Sistine Chapel.

The Cardinals that will participate are 115, after the procession from the Pauline Chapel to the Sistine Chapel with songs of Litany of Saints and the “Veni Creator” the Cardinals will pronounce the oath before the meditation and the vote.

The longest “Conclave” ever held was the one that took place in Viterbo, a beautiful medieval town north of Rome, it lasted two years and nine months. After eighteen months from 1268 to 1271 the ruler of Viterbo decided to remove the roof of the room where the Cardinals were meeting, it did not work so their food was reduced just to bread and water, finally they elected a man in “absentia” it mean he was not there, he was in Jerusalem, he become Pope Gregory X.
